The Frame that changed it all

When the Fatback first arrived on the scene, snow bikes were limited to the Surly Pugsley and a few custom steel bikes.  We wanted something that handled more like a bike, put the rider in a more comfortable position, accommodated wider rims, allowed for the use of a strong 29er wheelset in the summer, and came in under 4 lbs.  The Fatback was created.
We began with a 165mm rear hub before creating the symmetrical 170mm rear hub, now the industry standard. Since that time, numerous other companies have jumped on board, recognizing the advantages that the symmetrical rear end fat bike offers.  Fatback started it all and we continue to lead the way in high quality, innovative products like our US made aluminum frame.

Fatback Bikes is run by a handful of shop guys more interesting in riding, wrenching, and enjoying local brews than building websites and promoting products.

When we first starting selling the Fatback we knew we had the best product, but had no idea how popular it would become around the world. Our rapid growth and popularity threw us into the world of E commerce, overwhelming sales volumes, and international shipping.  It’s been an adjustment, but beer, riding and the love of cycling have remained our focus.
